To celebrate I'm announcing the name of the free version of the game.

The free version has no time limits or advertisements. It's the core experience of Guitar Fretter where you play an action puzzle arcade game to match notes on a guitar fretboard. It includes lots of work that's going into the full paid version too. New graphics, sounds, animations. It's all there. The limited part of the free version of Guitar Fretter is that it includes 2 instruments: 4 string bass and 6 string guitar and only the main game mode.

Want to know the name of the free version?

It's called Guitar Fretter: Demo Tape!

Ever been in a band or listened to a band's work in progress music? When you put all kinds of your best ideas together and share it with the world to get them talking about your band, one way to do that is to make a demo tape.

That's what the Guitar Fretter: Demo Tape is, it's the core of the game I'm choosing to publish for free in order to both get more people playing the game and talking about it.

It makes it even easier for guitar instructors to recommend Guitar Fretter as a supplemental practice. Now it will be easy to get a free version. As soon as I finish up this release and get it published.

It's both something for the community of game playing guitarists and for me. At no cost there's an option for folks to play the game, more people can play and talk about it. Also I'm sure some of those folks will want to upgrade for more features or to support the game.

The release date is very soon.

Coming very soon, the next few days or week I'll have the full featured Guitar Fretter published. Then another few days or week or so after I'll have Guitar Fretter: Demo Tape published.

As to exact date I can't say, I'm confident it's soon as I've tested an all platforms, have only a small handful of changes to complete. Once it's fully ready I go through the publishing process on each platform, updating the videos, screen captures, text about the game. It will take some amount of days to be reviewed and approved on Apple and Google platforms, but on Itch.io where I sell the Mac and Windows versions it'll be ready immediately after I publish the update.
